Indians defeat Hallsville in extra innings
The Indians knocked off Hallsville 5-3 in eight innings early Saturday morning. After a Thursday rainout and a Friday change of time and venue due to wet field conditions the Indians stayed focused.
Friday’s game was moved to McKinney Boyd for a 9:30pm scheduled start. The game did not start until well after 10:00pm due to an earlier game at the facility.
Hallsville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Indians countered with one run each in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings for a 3-2 lead. Hallsville tied the game with a run in the bottom of the 5th at 3-3.
Taylor Bright who started for the Indians on the hill shutdown the Bobcats in the 6th and 7th innings to end regulation tied. The Indians plated two runs in the top of the 8th for a 5-3 lead.
In the bottom of the 8th the Indians sent Tyler Navarro to the mound who closed out the 5-3 win with a save.
The Indians lead the best-of-three series 1-0 with game two scheduled for Saturday at 2:30pm at Dallas Jesuit. Game 3, if required, will be played 30 minutes afterwards.
